Sitar maker S.K. Bhattacharya

All sitars I use are kharaj-pancham with 7 main strings, 13 taraf strings and upper toumba. They were made by the late S.K Bhattacharya of Sharda Music Centre in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. I have had a great relationship with the family ever since my first trip to Varanasi in 2005

I am also the innovator of the Rock Bahar, an electric sitar, but with completely traditional look. It´s made without pumpkin, in all wood, with all steel strings and fitted with a humbucker guitar pickup. This allows playing through guitar effects and amplifiers at any volume with, or without distorsion. The Rock Bahar is not high tech or modern, it is just a new mix between the traditional ways of making sitars and guitars.
